Stratospheric Aerosol Climate Intervention and Natural Analogues (Joint between the 23rd Conference on Planned and Inadvertent Weather Modification, the 35th Conference on Climate Variability and Change, and the 21st Conference on Middle Atmosphere)

Stratospheric Aerosol Intervention (SAI) has been proposed to counter some of the warming from increasing greenhouse gases by enhancing the aerosol burden in the stratosphere. This approach is expected to impact stratospheric chemistry and transport in various ways. Natural analogues for SAI are large volcanic eruptions as well as PyroCb events that both inject aerosols and precursors into the stratosphere. This session invites contributions (modeling, observations, and lab studies) related to stratospheric aerosol interventions and their natural analogues.
